Cultural trip to Mt. Tateyama

The annual spring trip to Mt. Tateyama Alpine Route was held on Sat. 28 April with 80 international students participating together with university staff and local residents as well as 5 international students from JAIST (Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology). This year's huge wall of snow reached a height of 17m.

Together with Mt. Fuji (Shizuoka/Yamanashi) and Mt. Hakusan (Ishikawa), Mt. Tateyama are regarded as the 3 sacred mountains of Japan where in past days, ascetic Buddhist priests would climb these mountains as part of their physical and spiritual training.
