Short Study Abroad Programs
Each year during the summer and spring holidays we offer short study abroad language and cultural programs for all students regardless of faculty or major, where students spend anywhere from one-week to three weeks visiting our overseas partner universities. Students learn and experience the local culture as well as seeing the sights allowing them to broaden their horizons. All programs are subsidized by the university allowing students to experience life overseas at an extremely reasonable cost.
Some of the programs offered:
Tianjin Foreign Studies University (Tianjin, China)
2~3 week program for students from all faculties are eligible to participate. Students attend Chinese language classes in the mornings and spend the afternoons participating in cultural activities and visiting places of historical and cultural importance.
Kyungnam University (Masan, Korea)
3-week program where roughly 90 students join the Global Hamna program attending from all around the world. Korean language classes, traditional music, Tae-kwon-do, and culinary classes are also offered. A field trip to Seoul is also included in the itinerary.
Cambodia Internship Program (Siem Reap, Cambodia)
Students from the School of Future Learning spend a week at a primary school providing Japanese and English language education to the local children. The second week is spent with the JMAS (Japan Mine Action Service) group learning about the efforts of a Japanese NPO educating the local people on mine clearing and other humanitarian activities.
Tri-University Pharmaceutical Sciences Joint Study Program(Korea, China, Japan)
This program having started in 2005 brings together Pharmaceutical Science major students from Hokuriku University (Japan), Shenyang Pharmaceutical University (China), Kyung Hee University (Korea) and Wenzhou Medical University for an intensive pharmaceutical sciences program carried out over two-weeks. Students learn about the current state of medicine and pharmacy as well as the various challenges faced by pharmacists, scientists and researchers in each country. Students are treated to guest lecturers and able to visit major pharmaceutical companies involved in drug development.
University of California, Riverside Program (Riverside, USA)
Students from the faculties of Pharmaceutical Sciences and International Communication spend 2~3 weeks in the sunny location of Riverside, California studying specialised English language while participating in cross-cultural activities. Students from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences are able to learn about the medical field in general in the State of California and the role pharmacists play in relation to other medical speacialists.
