Shinkansen Bullet Train 2015! 

A special event was held on March 22, 2014 to countdown the opening of the Shinkansen bullet train which will start operating in the Hokuriku region and pass through Kanazawa in the Spring of 2015. Professor Takanori Hasegawa, School of Future Learning was invited to give a special lecture titled "The Delights and Treasures of Kanazawa." Speaking about how Kanazawa was spared of damage during the war, allowing the city to retain its original elements and natural beauty having prospered as a castle town during the Kaga Hyakumangoku period under the guidance of the Maeda Clan. 

The city of Kanazawa as well as the greater Ishikawa has seen a tourist boom by both Japanese residents and international tourists thanks in part to the magnificent Kenrokuen Garden, the beauty of Satoyama-Satoumi in the Noto peninsula as well as Kanazawa combing the traditional culture with modern arts and fabulous cuisine.
